ADA NSW Media Release: A Bursary That Will Help a Young Dentist Thrive

13 August 2020

Recent NSW graduates have the opportunity to receive a share of $7500 worth of financial support and access world-class teaching to further support their developing career.

Applications are now open for the 2020 ADA NSW BOQ Specialist Recent Graduate Bursary, which assists the career growth and development of a young dentist.

The successful applicant of this year’s Bursary, which recognises a demonstrable commitment to high-quality ongoing professional development, will receive $5000 towards career development training within the ADA NSW Centre for Professional Development (CPD).

For the first time since the scheme launched in 2018, a $2500 Bursary is also on offer for this year’s runner-up applicant.

ADA NSW President Dr Kathleen Matthews said she was delighted to again offer the Bursary for recent graduate members to help them gain an edge in a competitive talent pool.

“BOQ Specialist has been a long-serving and greatly appreciated industry partner and supporter of ADA NSW,” Dr Matthews said. “We are very grateful for their support of the Bursary once again.

“ADA NSW CPD is the leading provider of professional development activities for dentists and their teams in Australia. Our expert personnel and commitment to quality contribute to its reputation as the leading dental CPD education provider in Australia.

“With more than 200 clinical lectures and workshops run by CPD per year, it provides a diverse range of educational programs by renowned local national and international presenters for the whole dental team.

“This is a terrific opportunity for those relatively new to dentistry to earn subsidised places on CPD courses of their choice, enhance their professional development and further boost their skills base and knowledge.

“I would strongly encourage all eligible applicants to apply and wish them all good luck.”

The successful applicant will be required to outline a clear path as to how the Bursary will advance their career.

“BOQ Specialist is delighted to partner with ADA NSW to offer the ADA NSW BOQ Specialist Recent Graduate Bursary for the third consecutive year,” BOQ Specialist CEO Hugh Lander said. “Not only does this mark the strength of our longstanding relationship, but also our shared commitment to supporting the next generation of dentists.

“Having provided distinctive banking solutions to dental professionals for over 30 years, we understand their career trajectory and the importance of training and upskilling in these formative years. The purpose of this Bursary is to recognise recent dental graduates who demonstrate a commitment to quality learning and a passion for delivering the highest level of care to their patients.”

Applications close on Wednesday 30 September 2020 and application forms can be downloaded directly from www.adansw.com.au/Members/20RGBursary.
