A comprehensive 2-part course delving into the non-surgical and surgical aspects of periodontal treatment.

Modern Concepts in Periodontal Treatment is a 2-part course designed to provide dental professionals with a comprehensive understanding of both non-surgical and surgical elements involved in the treatment of periodontal diseases. This course aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage and treat various periodontal conditions.

About the presenter(s)

Dr Luke Villata
presenter

Luke obtained his BDS from Sydney University in 1984. He worked in private practice from 1985 until 1992 and became involved in implant dentistry in London in 1989. Luke attended the Royal Dental College Aarhus, Denmark from 1993 until 1996 obtaining a Masters Degree in Periodontology and receiving specialist registration as a Periodontist in NSW in the same year.He has been in private specialist practice in Sydney since 1996 and has extensive experience in implant dentistry.

Luke has published in several international journals and has lectured extensively at both the undergraduate and post graduate level. Luke was a lecturer in Periodotology at the University of Sydney from 1997 to 2008. He is now head of the Postgraduate Diploma of Dental Implantology program for Charles Sturt University. Read more

Dr Rebecca Ellis
presenter

Dr Rebecca Ellis graduated top of her class with BDS (Distinction) from the University of Otago, New Zealand 2011. In 2015 Rebecca moved to Melbourne, Australia to complete a three-year doctoral degree in Periodontology at the University of Melbourne. During her training she was awarded an ITI research grant for preclinical research in implant dentistry. Her research interests include preclinical and clinical research in immediate implant placement and also guided bone regeneration.
Rebecca is a fellow of the ITI, and current Australasian Section Chair.
Rebecca enjoys teaching and presenting both locally and internationally.
Rebecca holds the position of Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Charles Sturt University, NSW.
Rebecca has worked as a specialist Periodontist in full-time private practice in New Zealand for the last 5years. She has recently relocated to Sydney and is excited to be a part of the team at Sydney Periodontics and Implant Centre.

Dr. Sal Shahidi
presenter

Shahidi is a board registered specialist Periodontist working in private practice in Sydney. He has extensive experience in teaching and clinical demonstration at the University or Sydney as well as lecturing locally and nationally on the prevention and treatment of periodontitis / periimplantitis.

Lectures/Courses — 2015-present
Lectures and hands on courses conducted locally and nationally on topics including the modern concepts of periodontal treatment, peri-implant diseases, ridge preservation/timing of implant placement and soft tissue management around teeth and implants.

Sydney Periodontics and Implant Centre — 2017-present
Clinical Periodontist involved in diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases, including non-surgical and surgical management. Surgical treatments include dental implant surgery, bone and sinus augmentation as well as management of biological complications around dental implants.
