The 89th Annual Moxham Cup was held on Thursday 17 September at Concord Golf Club. Hosted by the ADA NSW, the Moxham Cup is a traditional highlight in the dental sports calendar. We were fortunate it was a perfect spring day. The course was as usual, in pristine condition and we thank Concord Golf Club, the groundsmen and the pro shop for their efforts in assuring we could maximise our golfing prowess.
The prestigious Moxham Cup event was instigated by Sydney Dentist, Dr Harry Moxham, in 1929. He donated the trophy we play for today. The Moxham Cup itself is made of solid gold, apparently supplied by the dentists back in the day. He presented the trophy for many years. It is very special that we gather each year to keep the nearly 100-year-old Moxham Cup Golf Day alive. Friendships are renewed annually among our fraternity and the golf day reinforces the importance of tradition within the dental community.
ADA CEO Jae Redden was in attendance to welcome players as they finished their round. The caterers and staff were then on hand to ensure we were looked after, treating us to a delicious lunch. The 2026 Moxham Cup was presented by Dr Mark Morrin, President of ADA NSW. The Winner was Dr John Coolican. Dr Eun Jae Hwang was runner-up with Dr Ian Hedley taking out the Scratch prize. John Allison from Dentavision was the Sponsor’s Winner.
Thank you to Dr Andrew Prideaux and Dr Leonard Leung for your support and help. There is considerable administration needed in the lead up to make the day run smoothly. I would also like to thank Allison and Claire from the ADA NSW CPD offices for their attention to detail. Their assistance and efforts are appreciated.
Once again, thank you to our very generous sponsors. We were able to reward those who took out a place with magnificent prizes and presented gifts to the many other golfers who excelled on the day. Lucky draw prizes also meant every player had a chance to take home a memento.
We are looking forward to next year, the 90th Annual Moxham Cup, which will be held on Thursday, 16 September. This will be a significant milestone, so save the date now. We hope to see all the regulars and many new players celebrating this occasion and vying to have their name on this special gold cup.
