The 2026 Mentoring Program brought mentors and mentees together on Saturday 29 August for an afternoon of connection, professional development and shared learning.
A key highlight was an insightful presentation from guest speaker Dr Tom Tseng AM, who explored the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. Participants gained valuable insights into how AI scribes can support more efficient clinical record keeping, while also considering the responsibilities, risks and practical implications of using these technologies.

The presentation sparked important discussion around governance, privacy and medico-legal considerations, including the responsibilities of dental practitioners when introducing AI into clinical practice. Dr Tseng also provided an overview of the expectations of the Dental Board of Australia for practitioners using AI scribes.
Beyond the presentation, the gathering provided a valuable opportunity for mentors and mentees to connect, share experiences, exchange ideas and strengthen their professional networks as they continue their mentoring journey.
