The Australian Government has introduced new regulations to enhance security and combat SMS scams. From 1 July 2026, a new rule requires organisations to register their Sender IDs.
Because of this change, you may start seeing the word ‘unverified’ as the Sender ID for some text messages you receive from other organisations. We want to ensure you can easily identify legitimate communications from us.
How to identify our SMS
Our Sender IDs have been officially registered. When we communicate with our members and customers, you will continue to see either of the following as the Sender ID:
- ADA.NSW
- ADA.NSW.CPD
What this means for you
You do not need to do anything. This update is simply to help you identify our messages and stay vigilant against potential scams.
If you receive an SMS from an ‘unverified’ sender after 1 July 2026, it does not automatically mean the message is a scam; it simply means that organisation has not yet registered their Sender ID with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
As a best practice, please continue to exercise caution:
- Avoid clicking links in messages from unknown or ‘unverified’ senders.
- Do not share personal information if you are unsure if the message is legitimate.
