Laurence Walsh is a specialist in Special Needs Dentistry who has made extensive contributions to dental microbiology and infection prevention and control. He has contributed to the development of national guidelines and standards for the ADA, CDNA, ACSQHC, and Standards Australia, and has served on the ADA Infection Control Committee for 28 years. He has been the editor of the ADA IPC Guidelines since 2012. Laurence was appointed as an Emeritus Professor by UQ in 2020. In his retirement he remains research active, and represents ADA on 5 committees of Standards Australia, including committees that cover reprocessing and sterilising, gloves, masks, and face and eye protection.
