Orthodontic tips and tricks: benefit from 40 years of a specialist's successes and failures
Course Overview
Advanced Orthodontic Biomechanics is an on-going orthodontic lecture series primarily designed to answer specific orthodontic treatment questions with content for this seminar based on the questions and submitted from the previous year’s participants.
The surveys from these groups result in numerous requests to answer specific questions regarding specific treatment problems and these are grouped together in order of most requested items.
One popular subject was for tips on intra-oral adjustments of wires with fixed appliance. Another common request had to do with extraction cases including management of congenitally missing teeth. Other questions related to correction of palatally impacted cuspids, limited treatment with adult patients, dealing with aligner problems (what is possible and what is not), and finishing and detailing cases.
Additionally, there was (once again) the request to see more of the tips and tricks acquired by Dr Lowenhaupt through his 40 years in orthodontic practice. The 2026 seminar will seek to address these items and many others.
Multiple cases will be utilised to demonstrate various aspects of mechanics and treatment modalities with particular interest paid to the best available ‘evidenced based information’. Additionally, multiple treatment ‘pearls’ will be shown to make your practice easier and more efficient and, where applicable, hands-on exercises will be used to demonstrate specific techniques.
Case Consultations
For specific troubleshooting and course-day mentoring, participants may also bring individual cases to review or discuss. These cases will be discussed during the breaks, lunch and before the course starts each day.
Should you decide to bring any records on a case from your office please respect the 2 case maximum.
