Dental crown restorations are a common treatment modality by most dentists. However, many dental crowns are seen as sub-optimal and many dentists face problems regarding their outcome.

This unique course aims to help you improve your skills in every step of the crowning process – from start to finish.

You will experience a patient’s journey from a comprehensive assessment, specialised crown preparation techniques and making an ideal provisional, to a successful cementation outcome.

Topics

  • Comprehensive assessment of the patient to identify risks
  • Post and core indications and selection process
  • Crown preparation including PFM, FGC and all ceramic
  • Impression taking including both 1-step and 2-step techniques
  • The importance of making ideal provisionals, especially for anterior cases
  • Ceramic update to cover all common classes of ceramic material, indications and selection process

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the risk factors for treatment and how to communicate these effectively to the patient
  • Identify different post and core systems and when to use each
  • Understand the critical steps of crowning including: tooth preparation, impression taking, provisionalisation and cementation.
  • Understand the various classes of dental ceramic and indication on when to use each
  • Improve clinical competency via hands-on exercises in: crown preparation,  taking 1-step and 2-step impressions, provisional crown.
