The Continuing Evolution of Irrigation: The Power of Bubbles

This presentation covers the complex anatomical environment of the root canal system together with the ability of microbes to hide in a biofilm on the canal walls presents a formidable challenge to obtain high success rates in clinical endodontic treatment. Erbium lasers are a newer technology to enhance antimicrobial procedures. Their mechanism of action and a review of nearly six years of clinical use will be presented.
The topics that will be covered in this presentation are;

- Why they are superior to traditional methods or irrigant activation
- Clinical uses of erbium lasers in endodontics
David Barnard has been a specialist Endodontist in the Hills District for 30 years. He has been actively involved in providing continuing education over that time both as a regular presenter at the ADA NSW Centre for Professional Development and currently as an Adjunct Associate Professor both at Charles Sturt and La Trobe Universities. He is the first Endodontist in Australia to obtain a Masters Degree in Laser Dentistry under the tuition of Professor Giovanni Olivi in Rome.
