Doctors' Health Advisory Service DHAS
The doctors’ health advisory service or DHAS is an independent and confidential service with an aim to assist practitioners to maintain their health and well-being. The DHAS offer advice to doctors, dentists and veterinarians and to medical, dental and vet students throughout New South Wales and the ACT. In this week’s podcast, the service’s medical director and psychiatrist, Professor Garry Walter and social worker, Sarah Foster as well as Sydney orthodontist and long-time advocate of the DHAS, Adjunct Associate Professor James Hawkins, explain the vital importance of health and well-being with ADA NSW’s Kate Miranda.

2016 ADA NSW Convention - Annie Praed Oration - Dr Sophie Halpin
In this week's podcast we bring you a very special episode as Dr Sophie Halpin delivers the 2016 Annie Praed Oration, recorded live on the opening day of the ADA New South Wales Convention in Bathurst. The Annie Praed Oration has been part of the history of ADA New South Wales since the 1950's and this year's speech, with an introduction from the Chair of the Local Organising Committee for the Convention, Dr Tim McAnulty, is on the topic of the role of women in dentistry.

Dr Sophie Halpin was born and raised in Dubbo. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2012 before moving back to the Central West to commence work in Narromine, where she remained for four years. Sophie loves all aspect of Dentistry but particularly enjoys endodontic and prosthodontic work, and caring for the elderly and disabled who otherwise have difficulty accessing dental treatment. She also enjoys caring for children and is able to provide care under both inhalation sedation and general anaesthetic. Sophie is planning to expand her dental training by learning to do implant restorations and surgery. She is passionate about dentistry and strives to provide excellent quality dental care with a focus on prevention.
