About the opportunity:
The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint three full-time clinical educators to add strategic academic needs of the students and staff of the School. Aside from their work in the clinical and simulation environments, the clinical educators will be expected to engage more broadly in aspects of University teaching and education, such as scholarly engagement, planning and coordinating teaching, and assessment and curriculum development. A significant community partnership exists between the Sydney Dental School and local private dental practitioners. 

They are looking for dentists with knowledge and skills in dental education; specific clinical expertise to teach and supervise students; and the proven ability to capitalise on existing community partnership. You will have experience in developing and implementing programs of study as well as exceptional teaching performance. A PhD is desirable as is Graduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Position Vacant – Graduate Dentist Full Time

The University of Sydney Poche Centre for Indigenous Health is seeking a full time graduate dentist to join our oral health team in 2019. The position is based in Boggabilla working across Moree, Boggabilla, Toomelah and Mungindi. The position will be from April-December (with possibility of extension). The position will report to the Project Manager, Oral Health. There will be travel involved in this job. To be eligible for this position you will need to: 

1. Have graduated as a dentist in 2018
2. Be registered in Australia to practice as a dentist
3. An Australian citizen or hold a visa which allows you to work as a dentist in Australia
4. Demonstrate your commitment to working within an Aboriginal community controlled health service to improve the health of the community
5. Provide comprehensive dental services to the communities of Boggabilla, Toomelah, Mungindi, Moree and surrounding areas. The scope of service provided will include the provision of: complete and partial dentures, root canal therapy, surgical extractions within the realms of general practice, preventive services to the community in conjunction with a dental therapist and oral health promotion
6. Work with a mentor and professional supervisor from the University of Sydney
7. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues in a team focused work environment
8. Assist with planning and coordination of clinical services inclusive of services to be provided, meetings, workshops and other matters as required
9. Hold a current unrestricted driver’s license
10. Other duties consistent with the position as required.

Experienced private dentist needed for dental clinic in Oberon, Central West

This is an opportunity for a dental practice or private dentist (sole trader) to provide a part-time dental service in Oberon using the dental room at Oberon Multipurpose Service.  The dentist is expected to work with their own dental assistant at all times and to participate in the Oral Health Fee for Service Scheme accepting patients of the Local Health District in addition to private patients.  

The following equipment is available for use at the clinic by a visiting private dentist:

  • Planmeca Compact Dental Chair with LED light

  • Planmeca Pro X Intra-Oral X-ray unit

  • Dentist and Assistant stools

  • Office desk and chair

The following equipment would need to be supplied by the visiting dentist:

  • Dental operating cart. Must have in built compressor 

  • Portable Suction Unit (eg Cattani Aspijet) 

  • Dental handpieces to use with the operating cart

  • All instruments and consumables including gloves

Please note: there is no autoclave to reprocess instruments on site, so a visiting private dentist would need to take used instruments off site to their base clinic for reprocessing.

Skills and experience
