Sophie is a dental practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience working in both the private and public sectors. Having completed a Master of Public Health in 2004, Sophie’s passion for public dental care grew exponentially. She has worked in Community Dental Clinics and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne in several departments and most recently in Oral Medicine specialist clinic. Sophie has a particular interest in orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders and the way in which dental practitioners can been involved in patient care for these patients.

Sophie was appointed head of Dental Oncology at Peter MacCallum Cancer centre in 2018. Sophie is passionate about equity in provision of dental and oral healthcare especially for patients undergoing cancer treatment. She is currently studying a Masters of Cancer Sciences at the University of Melbourne and embarking on research within the dental oncology department at Peter Mac. In her free time Sophie enjoys time with her family and friends, getting away for the weekends, and enjoying a good South Australian Shiraz!
