Dr. John Barbat obtained his BDSc in 1977 from the University of Queensland and MDSc in 1996 from the University of Melbourne. He is a specialist clinical associate at Sydney University and has actively been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including courses with ADA NSW.

Dr. Barbat is a fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy, a fellow of the International College of Dentists and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists. He is also a Member of the Royal Australian College of Dentists and has lectured both in Australia and overseas. Dr Barbat is on the Dental Specialist Register of the General Dental Council in the United Kingdom, is a peer reviewer for the Australian Endodontic Journal and has published articles in the prestigious American Journal of Endodontics and the Australian Endodontic Journal.

Dr. Barbat served as a dental officer in the Royal Australian Army Dental Corp and has practiced general dentistry in Australia and the United Kingdom. He has been practicing full time as an Endodontist in Chatswood since 1996.
