Dale Howes has been recently been appointed Associate Professor, School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Sydney, Australia. He was previously Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. Prior to that, he was in full time private prosthodontic practice with a part time appointment as clinical course coordinator for their specialist registrar programme.

With his translational research, he has developed innovative implant fixtures, components and protocols to solve hard and soft tissue constraints facilitating screw retained implant prostheses optimising patient management in the regular implant patient as well as for the patient compromised by head and neck trauma and cancer.

He has lectured extensively worldwide and supervised Masters and PhD projects, been external examiner nationally and internationally as well as publishing research and book chapters in fields including head and neck cancer rehabilitation, Implant dentistry, occlusion and biomechanics.
