Dr. Beata Rumianek is a dentist in a private dental practice in Sydney. As a result of the results of a study regarding HPV infection in the oral cavity and patients enquiring regarding the possibilities of contracting HIV through kissing she was impelled to enrol in a Masters of Science in Medicine (HIV, STIs & Sexual Health) at her Alma Mater, the University of Sydney, which she completed in 2015.

She found the unusual association of dentistry, sexual health and STIs very interesting and enrolled in an MPhil and in 2016 investigated the presence of oral HPV and possible demographic and behavioural factors in dental patients. Now, as part of her PhD she is set to investigate the oropharyngeal HPV infection in immunocompromised patients.
